    Youtube 'Optional Media Update'


    For the past couple of days I have been getting signed out of my youtube account and receiving a pop up message saying 'A media update is required to play this content. To get this update, sign in to Xbox Live and play the content again'. As of this I have
    tried doing the said media update, signing in and deleting the app and downloading it. If i sign in again after it signing me out it works but is such an inconvenience having to do it everytime i want to go onto youtube (which is basically daily) and would
    love to be able to fix it. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Solved!

    I had some other issues as well... I wasn't able to watch Youtube clips / Internet Explorer media.

    My Xbox was trying to download the "Optional Media Update" from the marketplace but failed every time.

    marketplace.xbox.com/.../66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802fffe07df

    After formatting the HD I was able to to download the Media Update. Now Music works!

    can't download optional media update

    I cannot download the optional media update. When i try to it just says "cannot download optional media update".

    Hi you must first clear the system cache and re-download the app again and you can make a repair to read all your media from your xbox 360 ... xD

    No, I don't think so. Only system updates can be obtained offline.

    Manky - have you done the license transfer? This should transfer all the licenses from a previous xbox to your latest one which should help you get round that problem. You can only do this once a year (I think) though. I had a problem accessing some of my
    downloads when I had to start a new profile after emigration to avoid lag, but the license transfer solved that. Hope that is helpful.
