Your recent update disabled access to my harddrive

it is not corrupted i have a harddrive connected and have the most recent dashboard update

How much free space is left on your hard drive? as it does need to download the update, so it does need some free space.

Also, have you changed any of your router setting recently, as this could have limited access to the internet for your xbox?

Also do you have a space memory stick to format in the Xbox and use as a second harddrive? if so, try putting it in instead of your normal hard drive, and see if by running through it, will the update take place.

So to give an update, I tried to disable background downloads, but I had to disable cloud storage in order to do so. So moved all the game saves to the harddrive and disabled the cloud storage and then disabled background downloads...and what do you know,
the console turns off from the controller when the family timer is out of time. PERFECT! Thanks for the ideas guys, I really appreciate it!

No you can not access your harddrive on your xbox through your pc.

I have had a similar experience since some recent updates. The game will lag from time to time, I even have it DL to the harddrive. I have also recently notice that it does not want to register my LB when pressed timely either. So it seems to there are some
people having a similar issue with Skyrim. No real way to fix unless they update with a patch or to just verify that its just not your controller.
