"Your network may be experiencing some problems" in Xbox Game Streaming app (Android)

When I run the streaming test on my Xbox it says everything is fine (all green ticks). My controller is connected to my Android device (Nexus 7) without any issues, and the Game Streaming app is connected to my Xbox and I can see my home screen.

However, interacting with it is so laggy, it's basically impossible to use. If I click on the controller it might take 30 seconds for it to register the click, or not at all.

There's a little exclamation mark in the top right of the screen which, when clicked, says "Your network may be experiencing some problems." Well that much is obvious, but it doesn't give me any more info than that.

So I logged into my router (a BT Smart Hub), and I can see that port forwarding is automatically set up, so no issues there.

Any ideas what might be going on?

    :)

Ensure you are connected on 5Ghz....Smart Hub has a tendancy to pick stability over speed. That said, I had a very laggy experience on my Nexus 7 but no problem on my S10+ so it may be hardware limitations.

Hello im Daniel, it might truly just be your network or it can also be your android device. To run the program the android device is probably to weak to run it also if you don't have a proper network that also can be a big deal towards why there are problems.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I suspect it’s the Nexus 7 being under powered although I’m not sure why, it’s only got to stream and respond to controller inputs? My network is fine - fast down and up speeds, Xbox is wired over ethernet, using the 5GHz
wifi channel etc. I don’t have another Android device to test it on - might be time to invest in a new tablet, but I do love my Nexus 7...

Why do I get "Your network may be experiencing some problems" on remote play on Android?

I'm having heavy picture freezes on my Huawei P30 lite with Series S, but only when connected to the same network. Xbox wired and phone 5ghz wifi.

Everything works fine, when I'm switching to LTE with my phone.

Sims 4 wont load through cloud gaming

    Hello SgtzRaven,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I can see that you are having issues when trying to play Sims on cloud gaming, let me see how I can assist your with this concern.

Please perform the troubleshooting steps below to try and fix the issue.

Set up your Android device for cloud gaming

For better network performance, keep the following in mind:

Use a 5 GHz network when connecting your devices wirelessly (you may see interference on a 2.4 GHz network). If you have a dual-band router, you may need to enable or separate the 5 GHz signal, then make sure your devices are all connected to this same signal. If you’re not sure how to do this, check your device manufacturer’s support site or contact your ISP.

If available, change the power setting on your device to Best Performance Mode.

Also note that, when possible, using a wired Ethernet connection to your network is the best option for network quality.

Keep in mind that the following can affect network speed or increase latency, resulting in lag, out-of-sync audio, or poor graphics quality:

    • Using a mobile hotspot for a network connection
    • Using Wi-Fi extenders
    • Playing on the same network where others are using high-bandwidth apps like video streaming or multiplayer gaming
    • Casting your device to another screen
    • Enabling VPN
    • Using a custom DNS in your device or your router settings

Enabling cellular or Wi-Fi only gameplayTurning the Allow cellular data option on or off can improve your connection, depending on your situation. For more info, see:

Set up your Android device for cloud gaming

Clear your cacheIf you’re experiencing network issues while cloud gaming on an Android device, try clearing the app cache. Go to Settings > Apps, select the Xbox Game Pass app, then select Storage > Clear cache.

Wireless disconnectsIf you’re experiencing wireless disconnects, you can try changing some of the advanced settings on your phone, if available. These settings are typically found on Android under Connections > Wi-Fi (actual settings path may vary). Your network connection reliability may be improved if you go to the Advanced section of your network settings and toggle the following settings to the Off position.

    • Detect suspicious networks
    • Wi-Fi power savings mode
