My kids just made a avatar, and wanted to DL some of the free props that are in the store.

When trying on xbox.com and the Xbox Avatar APP they keep getting the error, that they have to do it on their Xbox.

But when on the Xbox One they get the same message!!

Their accounts are set up as child, but with no restriction on. I have tried both options under: Buy and download = Anything or Only Free, but didnt help.

I have found a lot of post about this error, but all have been on or for the Xbox 360, so hope that someone can help

old to get xbox 360 games from the store, which I find really stupid, because they still won't let you buy the game even if you change your age to above 18.

I am having the same issue with my son's xbox account and can't buy on the xbox one console. the link says:

I'm getting the message "Your account is unable to make this type of purchase on Xbox.com. Please complete this transaction from your Xbox."

This error means that the Microsoft account that you're trying to use to make the purchase doesn't have the ability to make the purchase.

Child and teen accounts are prevented from making purchases in the Xbox 360 Marketplace. Changing your Microsoft account age or your purchase settings won't resolve this issue.

To resolve this issue, purchase or download the content on your Xbox 360 console.

But I still cannot buy on the console! I have even changed his age and removed all restrictions. Still I cannot buy an avatar prop on the console. I was able to make a xbox gold live purchase which did no good. I was on the phone with support they said
it might be because its unrated content but changing his age should have addressed that. Has anyone found a solution?

No there are two things

First the age of an account cannot be changed once set

Changing the email.nor.the birthday will.affect the age of an account

Only father time will change the age of the account

You would either need to rent or borrow a 360

Xbox one parental settings aren't compatible with the 360 parental.settings and avatar stuff isn't considered approvabke

I think that troubleshooting article relates to a different issue, the error message is different, there is no problem with xbox live status, I have compared and updated his settings to match my own settings (I a able to purchase things without issue on
the same console, so the console is not banned and also his account is not banned.

Thanks for clarifying as well as ensuring that your settings match up. I believe

this article will explain the error in more detail. Essentially Child accounts are restricted from purchases from the Xbox 360 Marketplace and technically the Avatar Store is going through the Xbox 360 Marketplace at the present time. The best thing you
can do is use an Xbox 360 console to obtain the free content for his profile.
