"You need this update in order to use your console, but something went wrong" I've tried...

Kindly try the following troubleshooting steps below and see if it helps:

1. Power cycle both console and router

- To disconnect and reconnect your console: Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller for 10 seconds, and then unplug the console's power cable and wait 10 seconds. Plug the power cable back in, and then press the Xbox button on the front of your console to turn it back on.

2. Try using both wireless and wired connections (if possible try using a mobile hotspot as well).

3. If it still didn't work, please bring up the Xbox Troubleshooter menu and reset the console (keep my games and apps).

-Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection then power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

-Wait 30 seconds.

-Plug the power cord back in.

-Press and hold the BIND button (the one used to sync controllers) and the EJECT button, and then press the Xbox Power button on the console.

-Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds and listen for two power-up tones a couple of seconds apart.

-Once you hear the 2nd tones please release the button.

-If this is successful the Xbox will turn on and should start and show the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter. On the Troubleshooter page, please select Reset this Xbox and then choose "Keep games and apps".

4. If it didn't help, perform an Offline System Update by following the steps on this link: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-ne....

Shoot my son tried to reset it and now when he turns it on it checks for updates then says you need this update to use your console but something went wrong. Then it tells us to go to xbox.com/xboxone/update/help and gives the console ID and an error code.

It says upon startup:

"There was a problem with the update

You need this update to use your console, buy something went wrong" with the error code 0x8B0500B6.

I've tried going between 2G and 5G connections, I've checked my network connections and they are both good.

I am using an original Xbox One.

Whats going on?

Same error code. Really upsets me considering some people can still play. Console needs an update but the update is currently unavailable

I've been having xbl issues also but I can't play offline or anything. I'm at the update screen that says "something went wrong, you need this update to use your console." It's very frustrating because I just go the xbox last night and this is what I start
up with.
