You can’t live stream while a video app is running, Xbox Series X

What I was doing earlier?

There is an app called Twitch, which stream the game play and other activities we do on Xbox to https://twitch.tv website. With this app on Xbox, it was working perfectly. I was able to stream any game play or Videos (which I play in VLC media player app in Xbox) easily without any issue.

Note: Few months back, Microsoft implemented live streaming feature on Xbox's native platform and Twitch app streaming is also merged with it. Which means without twitch app we can stream directly to Twitch. And because of this change Twitch also has removed the streaming feature from the app. So now we only left with Xbox native feature for streaming.

What’s happening now?

It is only streaming game play easily without any issue. (So, streaming with game play is not an issue).

What I’m expecting?

I am playing a video in VLC media player in XBOX, which I want to stream on twitch is not working.
When I play a Video using VLC media player and I press Xbox home button on controller and navigate to Capture & share then to Live streaming (which is already configured with Twitch configuration). It is saying You can’t live stream while a video app is running.

I hope I'm able to explain my issue. Your help will appreciate me.

Likely because it's tied directly into the framebuffer, and if a game isn't playing nothing is in there to broadcast.

Were someone to use their platform to broadcast copyrighted material to others, they would also be liable, not only to that copyright holder, but their contracts with the streaming platforms and movie studios almost certainly require them to prevent such things. This is why Netflix keeps killing VPN, they do not have the rights to everything, everywhere

I agree with you, when we try to sream a video app (OTT Platform) such as Amazon Prime, Netflix is fine if they block it. But my question is when I'm using a media player app (VLC in my case) which is playing a video from my local disk. So what's wrong if I stream my local video content before starting the game?

Because 99% of the video apps on Xbox feature copyrighted material would be my guess. It's easier to just block it entirely. Most people doing what you're doing use a computer

Hello amramlinebarger, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

The Xbox Console Companion app is mainly for Windows 10 and allows you to stream your Xbox One to One X consoles on Windows 10. This app does not work with the Series X/S consoles though and the Xbox app is recommended for streaming to your PC if you're running Windows 11.

If you are running Windows 11 the only way we'd ask you to try installing the app is if you were having trouble with your Xbox games just to see if that would help.

You would have to purchase them for the console in order to play them on the console.

So, I can’t run them via Ea App or origin, transfer them or any other way on xbox series x?
