XSX Pre-Order payment

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We see you have a question changing payment. We recommend speaking with Microsoft store support.
They will be the ones able to assist you. You can also follow this guide to see if it lets you use currency.

You can change how you pay for your pre-order or update your payment info (like your credit card expiration date) any time before the pre-order is billed.

1. Sign in to account.microsoft.com/orders with your Microsoft account.
   
2. In Order history, find the pre-order and select Change how you pay.
   
3. Choose a different payment option, or add a new one.
   

You can also check the pre-order release date and status under Details.

When payment is taken depends on the payment option used. It's all explained here: https://support.xbox.com/games/purchasing/pre-order-faq

If you have currency on your account and use that to pay for a pre-order it's taken right away from the account.

Keep in mind, most places that do pre-orders don't charge for the pre-order until the item releases.

Hi, digital pre orders paid for using your payment option won't be charged until ten days before release, as long as you add your new card as your payment option soon then your pre order shouldn't be affected as they charge the card that's in use on the
date the payment is taken.

As mentioned above, pre-order payment is taken 10 days prior to release...in your case, the Pen is released 5th November so payment would have been taken on the 26th October (a game I pre-ordered releases on the 5th and payment was taken 26th). If you cancelled the pre-order before the 26th, then no money would have been taken so no refund needed.
