XSX controller randomly disconnecting and showing wrong battery %

Hello,

As mentioned in the subject my XSX controllers are randomly disconnecting when playing or just going through the menu or web browser. I believe the issue is not with the controller itself as I checked it on both my XSX controllers (one came with XSX and the other I bought at local electronic store).

Also, I checked using both regular batteries and official Microsoft xbox play & charge kit. The issue is still there no matter what I use.

The issue is really annoying as it happens a LOT and it makes gaming experience worse.

Another issue is that it shows wrong battery %. Even when writing this ticket it already changed from low to medium and to low again.

I wanted you to try it with a USB cable just to isolate the issue if it’s acting the same thing or not. Since it happens to both of your controllers, most likely it’s a console system issue. I would advise you to try to factory reset your console by keeping your games and apps first:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
Select Reset console.
On the Reset your console? Please choose “Reset and keep my games & apps”

If there are wireless devices near you or connected to your console, please turn them off or disable them temporarily to avoid interference.

Hi,

Controllers are up to date. This is the first thing I checked.

I first encountered this issue around 1-2 months ago, so that would be 3 months after I purchased my XSX.

I didn’t try anything yet as I’m not sure what can I do. I tried switching back to normal batteries as I mentioned but it didn’t work and the issue was still there.

Now I’ll try to do this power cycle thing with my XSX and see if it helps, but sceptical that it will help to be honest.

Using my controllers with a cable is not a solution. I sit far from the TV and I need my controllers to work wireless. Plus what’s the point of having wireless controllers if they would need to be connected via cable?

There is also this issue with XSX showing wrong battery % which I think might be connected.

Hi Oskar! Sorry to hear about the issue. Let's do our best here to figure this out.

When did this issue start to occur?
Did you check if your controllers' firmwares are up-to-date?
What steps have you already tried to try to fix that within your console?

First, try to power cycle your Xbox console. Press and hold the Xbox power button for 10 sec until it turns off. Unplug it from the power source for few minutes. Plug it back in and turn it on again.

To also further isolate the issue, try connecting your controllers to your console via USB cable if there's still a disconnection issue.
