    XSX bitstream audio jitters under 4K 120Hz


    Recently I‘ve brought a SONY XR-85X95J TV which supports 4K120Hz, but I've found my Xbox Series X(connected to HDMI4 with Enhanced format selected) bitstream audio jittered under 4K120Hz mode, details below



    Bitstream + Allow Passthrough @ 4K120Hz
    Dolby Digital​
    jitters every 16 sec
    DTS​
    jitters every 8 sec
    Dolby Atmos​
    jitters every 2 sec
    Uncompress @ 4K120Hz
    Stereo/5.1/7.1​
    works fine, no jitters
    Every audio mode @ 4K60Hz​
    works fine, no jitters​

    Jitters appeared not only on my eARC receiver Yamaha TSR-700 but also on TV speakers when I disabled the receiver

    Tested with:

    Xbox Series X: newest GA and then newest Omega 2108.210812-1500

    XR-85X95J TV: newest PKG6.3770.0471CNA

    TSR-700 Receiver: newest 1.36

    I'm not sure is it an Xbox issue or a TV issue because I don't have another 4K120Hz TV to test out (My receiver has HDMI 2.1 bug and doesn't support 4K120Hz currently so I use eARC), hope Xbox Insiders Team can resolve this issue or forward it to SONY if confirmed it is not an Xbox issue, Thanks

    Another XSX Dolby Atmos sound delay post. . .

    The best way to resolve this would be hdmi 2.1 splitter or audio extractor connected to XSX/PS5 that splits signal to tv and to audio system, the problem is that the device like this doesn't exist, there are 4k 120hz splitters but those cant provide signal to two receivers at same time

    Why won’t Microsoft/Dolby fix the audio lag on the Xbox series x after thousands of complaints over the last two years?

    My tv doesn’t support 4K at 120hz. It’s 60hz maximum and still have audio lag

    Xbox got it right with the new bitstream format. My turtle beaches sound like they should in Dolby.!!!

    Not sure if you wanted me to elaborate or not If you go into settings then under display and sound. You have a new option Under optical audio pick bitstream out the below that option is bitstream format choose dolby.

    Dolby Digital via Optical has been there for months. Under Settings, Display & Sound, set Optical Audio to Bitstream out and then set the Bitstream format to Dolby Digital.

    XBSX Audio drops every 2 seconds

    Welp I've discovered the issue.

    It's being caused by setting my xb to 120fps.

    If I drop it down to 60fps the issue doesn't occur.

    My TV is set up for 4k 120hz and hdmi 2.1. both my cables, one of which came with the xb, are 8k ultra 2.1 hdmi.

    I'm not sure if this is the xbox or the tv as I have nothing else to test at 120hz.

    Any ideas?

    Edit: If I turn 120fps back on but disable atmos or dtx bitstream the problem also stops. Setting bitstream to anything else or turning it off stops the issue.
