Xobox One Controller stuck in the down position when trying to play games on windows

A couple questions for you:

Have you verified that this is not a hardware issue? As in, does your Xbox One controller function correctly elsewhere, like on your Xbox One Console?

If it's not a hardware issue, you might be well off reinstalling the drivers for your controller. Press the Win key and search for 'drivers'. You should be able to find the Xbox Controller drivers towards the bottom of the list. Uninstall those and then
plug your controller back in for them to be reinstalled. See if that fixes your issue.

If that doesn't work, it could be that the title you are playing has controller compatibility issues. I would recommend contacting the developer in that case.

based on by looking at the controller the D pad has for positions, Up, Down, Left and Right.

But, when you are playing a game like Mortal Kombat pressing both Down and Left will be considered a seperate position (at least that is my experience)

Also the Elite controller has the option to replace the standard D-Pad to a different one to more easily be able to do the Down-Left, Down-Right, Up-Left adn Up-Right positions

Thanks for coming to the forums. We understand having issue with controller stuck in down position. Try taking the battery pack or batteries out of the controller. Leave it unplugged from the console also for about 5 minutes. Personally had this issue my
controller was flipped upside down on couch when turned console on so it kept scrolling even when the thumbsticks were not being pressed. Did what i suggested and it fixed the issue for me. Let us know how it goes.

When I connect a wireless controller, the left analog stick is stuck in down position. This is brand new controller, and have had other controllers do the same . But if I connect these controllers with a cable they work fine. Does anyone know
of a way to make it where I can use wireless controllers with my system, so my family can play games with me again

Are you connecting these wireless controllers via Bluetooth, or using the Xbox Wireless Adapter?

If the controllers are working fine when connecting via wire, then it sounds like the controllers themselves are fine, and it's possibly a driver issue, or a wireless connection issue.

My left controller trigger stuck more "logically" than physically. The trigger appeared ok but when you tried to do anything it was like it was stuck down. Had to take it back.

And yes that was a Day One Controller.
