Surely adding a HDD to the HDD slot provided does nto count as "System modification" ?

Even when it is a OFFICiAL Microsoft HDD from and Xbox Elite?

Can your Xbox read your old HDD? Is there some kind of security plastic on the HDD connector? Does the new HDD fit it smootly? Can it be placed on the same way as your old HDD?

You can try to format your new HDD through the Xbox dashboard.

Last tip, try cleaning your cache.

To me, it sounds like you're experiencing a HDD memory failure. You may want to purchase a new HDD to see if it solves your problem. If a new HDD does not solve your problem, you can easily return it

it probably broke your HDD. If you have the option, try connecting an external HDD if the Xbox loads it. If the Xbox does not even load an external HDD, there will be a problem somewhere else, but you will need to send the console to an authorized service
center.
