Xbox360 Xbox Live Gold doesn't join games

I have an issue regarding my Xbox 360 and joining online matches. I have a Xbox Live Gold membership so that I can play games online. If I want to join a game in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 it doesn't find any matches for games to join, on any ping. It
says that there are 750.000 people online in the game and my NAT-type is open, but it just keeps searching for matches in the potential games for none to be found. I can start a party with a friend and play private matches online in the game together, but
we both cannot join a public game. Therefore, this is not a local problem for my internet connection, he lives in another city and has the same issues.

Has something changed in the support of Xbox 360 with Xbox Live Gold? Or is this Activision not allowing Xbox 360 players to play online anymore? Any help is appreciated.

Many of the games on 360 is slowly losing support from developers with regards to online play. Not many gamers play on 360 nowadays.

He doesn't have xbox live gold because he doesn't play on xbox. He plays windows 10 version on PC. Would him not having gold make him unable to join me but still allow me to join him?

Do you have active gold ?

You do need it

For xbox one games with gold games can only be accessed when you have gold

Xbox 360 games with gold doesn't have that requirement once you own it by queuing while you have gold
