Xbox1X Will Not Connect To Xbox App

For the first couple of months I had to use IP address to connect with mine and then suddenly one day it started showing up and has ever since. I had tried power cycling my router and running network tests but it is tough to explain. My guess it was
something with the router and NAT that finally started working right but I wish I could point you in a definitive direction.

So I checked all of that and it still did not work. I just want to make sure I am stating everything clear.

The apartment complex I live in has a contract with the ISP (spectrum), and it gives each resident a username and unique password but for example if connecting from a cell phone or pc, when opening the browser it would direct you to a confirmation page to
confirm your password. I had to call ISP to give them the xbox mac address to be able to connect to the router

It may be the your PC is not discovering your Xbox's MAC address as that is a unique identifier for hardware to be able to correctly identify each other over a network. It may also be that your Xbox settings are not correctly set to allow the Xbox app to
connect to your device.

Once you've confirmed your Xbox settings are set to allow the app to connect, go to your Network Settings on the Xbox and then select Advanced Settings. Select Alternate MAC address and then Clear. Allow your Xbox to restart and then open up the app again
and go to the Connection tab on the panel.

It may then be related to the security features of your apartment complex spectrum account since you have to go through a portal to verify your access to the network with a unique username and password. It may be that because you had to ask your ISP to allow
the Xbox to connect to the network, the PC and Xbox may not be on the same subnetwork.

I suggest trying to see if you can hard wire your PC to the router as well or calling your ISP and making sure the PC and Xbox are on the same subnetwork. Your PC should have a MAC address as well so make sure with them that your devices aren't on separate
networks. Maybe even try putting the Xbox wireless and see if that makes a difference, although wired is recommended I suggest still giving it a try.
