    I bought an xbox1s and a game to play.

    During the setup it asked for an ISP. It

    wouldn't let me continue without

    choosing an option. Didn't have internet

    and couldn't play my game so returned it.

    Is there a way to bypass that screen in setup?

    And why does it need an ISP. MY 360 didn't.

    Unfortunately no. The One requires internet to get through setup. Once setup is done, you can continue playing offline.

    You will need the internet for the initial setup of the console. Most games require an initial download/update as well.

    A common mistake for people first setting the Xbox up is plugging the HDMI cord into the wrong HDMI port.

    First ensure that your HDMI cord is plugged into "HDMI OUT", not "HDMI IN". Turn the console on, then cycle through your TV's different HDMI inputs until you find your Xbox. Follow the setup process from there.
