    just bought new xbox x with 1 tb storage, downloaded Forza 5 and MSFS. over 800 gb used for install. Is that a normal size install for these titles? I have basically no space to add anything. What can I do to free up some space yet still have these on my hard drive?

    External SSD on Xbox Series X?

    The games on the SSD will run fine on it. You won't need to move them to the Xbox Series X storage to play them. Only the Xbox Series X games & games optimized for Series X will need to be played on the consoles own storage.

    I know MSFS is very big, also for current games. But games around or a little over 100GB isn't rare.
    In regards to MSFS you may be able to remove certain world updates to get more space
