XBOX X/S controller intermittently blinks

I have two of the new controllers and tried both as this just started today when one of my external drives failed to show in drives. So seeing if I leave it disconnected if that will help.

Tried pressing both buttons to sync but that did not help. The USB cord is next.

What is the real cause for this? And the real fix.

My new XBOX S was working perfect as well as the new controller and all external drives.

Oh my is there a way to test this issues to pin point the real problem?

Thanks. It appears the SSD external drive number 2 was the issue. Maybe!

That narrows it down to 3 issues.

XBOX S does not play well with 2 external SSD drives

Sometimes when a drive starts to fail it will do strange things .

last one that failed had a bad cable as well as a bad drive. Difficult to troubleshoot eh.

Hi there Andocretuse welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. You could try the following:

1. Turn off your Xbox using the power button on the console.

2. Once your Xbox has completely powered down, unplug the power cord from the back of the console. Don't simply unplug the cord from the wall's electrical socket — it must be disconnected from your Xbox.

3. Wait for 5 minutes, and then reconnect the power cord to both the Xbox console and the electrical socket.

4. Let another minute pass and turn it on afterwards.

I'm curious about your issue as I too have intermittant problems with LStick on controller which only appeared recently.

Couple of questions.. If you use a different controller, does the issue disappear or is it happening with another controller?

Does the controller function normally when playing a game?

Is it happening in the XBox Dashboard menus and the virtual keyboard in Edge for example?

Are you using WiFi to connect controller to console or a plug and play charging cable?

What type of console, OG, S or X?

The issue is with two xbox one Not S not X controllers. These controllers were purchased before Christmas to replace two controllers that i had the same issue with. I can not speak nor hear anyone thru these. It started intermittently and now completely
gone within a few months after spending over one hundred dollars. These are the third pair I've had to purchase and I have two. Xbox's at the moment that I can't play with friends due to the lack of communication.
