Xbox X game installation for family use

I recently bought an Xbox X that came with Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Motorsport 7 available as downloads from the app store.

When I set up the Xbox, I logged in with my Microsoft account and then downloaded both games as, having never used an Xbox before, I thought that might be useful in case I needed to purchase any add-ons for my children. Subsequently my son set up his own
Xbox account so that he could play as himself and register his own achievements.

Unfortunately, every time he wants to start either Forza game when first turning on the console, he gets a pop-up saying

"Something went wrong

Sign in with the account that purchased the game or installed the app, or, if the game has a trial version that has expired, purchase the game from the Microsoft Store. For detailed instructions, select Help"

This means that I need to sign in every time that he wants to play it - I had only intended for my account to be needed if adult approval was required for something.

Two separate games that we installed from disk are available to all users on the console, which is what I had thought would happen for all games.

Is there any way that I can somehow make the Forza games available to my children on the same Xbox console so that they don't need me to log in each time, but only if they want to buy something?

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I haven't come across an obvious answer to this yet - any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not a stupid question at all. You'll just need to set your gamertag as Home on the console so your digital game purchases and Gold/GamePass memberships will be shared. You can read how to do that here https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/console/my-home-xbox

It actually would. There's an Xbox One, One S, and One X that are all in the same family. Then there is the Series S and Series X that are in a completely different family of consoles.

An Xbox One X is not the same as a Series X. The game will not work on an One X.

nope, most if not all current games on xbox one will be playable on the series x, eventually there will be games release just for the series x and they wont be playable on previouse console versions.

Xbox one s and Xbox one X are the same family, series x will be the new console and eventually (a couple of years down the line hopefully) games will only be release on the series x family so the xbox one x will not be able to play them.
