Xbox X controller capture button not operating correctly

Hi

My controller capture button recently changed itself and I am unable to reset the options.

When pressed originally it would capture a screenshot and if press and held would capture a 30 second clip (my choice of length of clip).

This changes recently when I pressed the screenshot button and it recorded a 7 second clip instead of a screenshot.

I have updated drives on the controller and been into options and checked that all the options were set as before and have even carried out a full restore on the controller twice yet the issue hasn't resolved itself.

I have now set the second option (press and hold) to capture screenshot and this now works when you single press the button, but the other options still do not work (press and hold, press twice etc)

Is this a known issue or is there a way to rectify the problem.

As stated in had reset the controller previously twice and reset the settings on the button. Neither has worked.

Oh I see. I thought it was a different kind of reset. My bad.

Anyways, as checked on the latest update of Xbox console from the link below, there's no known issue about the share button.

Our best option should be performing a factory reset on your console to remove any potentially corrupted data causing some issues on your console.

If possible, please try to use a different controller to further isolate the issue.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
Select Reset console.
On the Reset your console? Please choose “Reset and keep my games & apps”

Please make sure to reset your controller mapping.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Under Profile & system, select Settings.
Under Devices & connections, select Accessories.
On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select Configure.
Carefully review the current mapping for each of the buttons on your controller. You can also select Restore to default to set the controller back to its original button mapping.

to check the settings for game captures, tap the Xbox button on the controller then press the RB 3 times to get to the system tab

select Settings

from the options on the left select Preferences, then on the right side of the screen select Capture & Share.

make sure that under Capture it is set to allow "Captures by me or games" OR "Captures by me"

choose the other options that best suit your requirements for duration, auto upload, resolution and storage location then when you do something in a game and want to record it simply tap the Xbox button and press X and it will record whatever just happened.

By default, it records that last 30 seconds when you use the Kinect ("Xbox record that") or use the X button on your controller. However, you can adjust how much gameplay time is captured in settings on your console.
