You don't have to cancel. As long as you have 12 months or less of the subscription left, you can add the 24 months and it will add onto what you have and delay your next payment.

so it will automatically stop billing my credit card and start billing me via Citizens Bank Credit. That way i will only pay the $35 per month going forward.

Correct. Auto-renewal will still be turned on unless you turn it off though, so after the 24 months ends, you'll go back to what you're paying now.
