Xbox won't install games without deleting something, but I have 50% free memory

I recently have come across this issue, a game or update will queue, but not install. It stops and sends a notification. Ive tried power cycling and hard resetting it but nothing ive tried has worked. For example I tried downloading a 1.4 GB update with
184 or so GB free on my xbox hard drive. But anything will install if I uninstall anything else on my xbox. It's pretty frustrating because I used to have it up to 80% full on memory but now it will not let me download without removing something first, even
though I have space on the hard drive. Anyone know what this could be?

Installed update: gameplay is faster now

Hmm, have you tried going to your "Memory" and deleting the update? They are free, which means you can just re-install them without paying. If that doesn't work, you might have to "clear cache".

Unable to install Injustice 2 game to my XBOX ONE X

I am unable to install the Injustice 2 Game on my XBOX One X. The game starts installing but does not install past 42% . I have tried all the suggestions (installing offline, deleting the game, restarting the console without the disc inside, etc...).
Any other suggestions???

Hi there,

If you have external storage device(s) connected then make sure the default storage is the one where space is left.

Also when oyou try the manual power cycle steps like mentioned on the following link, be sure to wait at least 60 seconds before powering on again:
Restart or Power Cycle Xbox One Console

If none of this helps then I would suggest to try a factory reset (with keeping games and apps installed) via the steps mentioned here: Reset Xbox One Console to Factory Defaults

Keep in mind that you will have to redownload any profiles so be sure to have the account credentials ready.

When the memory units fail in those Xbox 360 consoles, you can't delete or install anything and you'll often get prompted to install a system update which won't install either.

If you can try and exchange the 360 with gamestop that would be best and get a 360 without a memory unit. The systems without a memory unit will require an internal hard drive.

That's what I'm leaning towards as well as the root cause of the problem - the memory card is failing.

If you go to the memory slot under the system settings, you can get deletion suggestions. That'll let you be sure it's deleting just the game install/dlc & not your save. It won't offer saves as deletion suggestions.
