XBOX WON'T Connect to Wi-Fi ! Can't Connect to DHCP Server

I will keep it simple.

When trying to connect Xbox One/X/S to your Wi-Fi it says:

''Can't connect to DHCP Server''

If so then I can tell you how to fix this problem without factory resetting Xbox or performing any router firmware upgrade.

Step 1)

Go to 'Network Settings', click 'Advanced Settings'. You will see on that screen your wireless mac address. Write it down.

Step 2)

Click 'Alternate MAC Address' Select 'Manual'

Step 3)

Now re-enter your device wireless mac address exactly as written with the exception of the last 2 characters. Enter a different letter or number for the last two. For example:

This is what you wrote down:

Wireless MAC ADDRESS ' XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-H6 '

So instead enter:

Wireless MAC ADDRESS ' XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-G1 '

Finally go to 'Test Network Connection' and you will be delighted to see that now you are connected to your wi-fi network.

Hello Anthony_50, you are trying to connect your console to your network via Wi-Fi or network cable if you are over Wi-Fi switch to the network cable if possible.

DHCP is an application that provides dynamic IP numbers for your home network, if the console is unable to connect to DHCP this may be something on your modem/router.

Turn off your console and then make sure your modem/router doesn't need any firmware updates, and even restart your modem.

Note: Before turning off your console, network settings on Xbox for "automatic."

Dhcp can mean one of two things

One you can't login to the router

Since its a hotel when you connect it will ask you to sign in on the console if you are lucky it depends on the gateway

If it doesn't your next option is use your phone and setup a hotspot.and then connect ro the Wi-Fi while your console is connected to your hotspot

Make.sure to share internet connection though

Hotels isnt the best connection for consoles because they usually will have a login page rather then a Wi-Fi password

If the Wi-Fi was working fine before the Power Cut and not afterwards, then it sounds like something got damaged. Do other devices connect to the Wi-Fi okay? Is it just the Xbox you are having problems with? If it's only the Xbox, then it could be the Xbox got damaged (although they have built-in surge protection, nothing is ever 100% guaranteed)...best way to test it would be to take the Xbox to a friend, neighbour, family member's house and try connecting it to their Wi-Fi.

If other devices also can't connect, then it's the router and that will probably need replacing.

So are you using your internal wi-fi or your hooked up to your laptop to connect? If there is a webpage to use then the internal wi-fi adapter won't be able to do that as that xbox cannot access webpages
