    Xbox Wireless Headset Stuttering


    I’ve been having stuttering issues with Xbox headset audio for years on Xbox One. I thought maybe it was my Audio Technica headset plugged in to my controller, but I have upgraded both my console (to a Series X) and my headset to a wireless Arctis 7 and still I get audio stuttering. No improvement at all with the latest console and headset on the market.

    The Series X is plugged in to Ethernet. I have all the latest firmware. I even unplugged nearby wireless devices that might cause interference. I tried Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos interfaces for the headphones. Nothing helps other than restarting the console or sitting right next to the Xbox. It comes back after a few minutes of play.

    If I connect a Bluetooth headset to my TV (or any other device in my home) I don’t have this issue. I want to blame MS on this one but my PS4 Pro also has this problem when plugging a headset in to the controller. This also only happens when playing games and gets worse the further I get from the console.

    Does anyone know what the hell is going on with the wireless protocol MS and Sony are using for gaming headsets? Why is it such trash? My guess is they don’t buffer the audio stream in favor of low latency, so any latency introduced by the demands of the game or loss because of a bad wireless signal will cause stuttering. Bluetooth headsets on the other hand never stutter for me under the same conditions but they might have a few milliseconds of lag.

    I’m open to options on how to fix this. All I want to do is play Elden Ring while wearing a headset. The TV in my living room can’t use Bluetooth audio while in gaming mode so this isn’t an option for Elden Ring (which needs low latency for play).

    UPDATE: Ok this is very weird, if my offical 360 wireless headset is on before i turn on the xbox, (the old model) the stuttering happens, if its off it doesnt. Very weird. Also it still only does it only if the harddrive is in, the headset doesnt
    effect it if i play with on the 4gb internal. very odd.

    This is a problem with the latest update, i tryed my wireless headset on my brothers xbox and i get the same results. If the headset is on "Before" i turn the xbox on, then the xbox splash screen with stop and stutter a few times.

    Mine is a xbox 4gb with 250gb HD and his is a 4gb with a 320gb HD. Im not sure if this is only a 4gb model problem? anyone else have this issue?

    Dear Kathy, I am having the exact same issue.

    I have also tested on multiple pcs, with and without the wireless adapter.

    When wired, everything works.

    When connected by the adapter, the audio stutters heavily.

    I tried different headsets too.

    Windows wireless headset and Beoplay Portal. Both same issue.

    Is there a fix comming? Or has this been shelved and there is no more work done about it?

    Since you are marketing the wireless headset as dolby atmos compatible, it should work via the wireless adapter on PC with dolby atmos?

    I don't have the same issue. I assume you've tried cleaning the cache? TBH if it works normally, then there;s no reason to worry
