My Microsoft Wireless XBox headset is just outside of the 12 month warranty (UK) and on picking it up the volumn control dial fell off, on looking it would seem that either glue has failed or the center part where it is connected to the actual headset where it rotates is welded and is only held in place with a few millimeters of glue or very very thin plastic weld, far too small a connection point to be robust.

My headset has not been dropped, I can see other people on the internet complaining of exactly the same thing, this seems to me to be a design issue, not a substantial enough connection point for the size of the volumn dial, can you advise how I can go about getting it repaired, or getting an improved volume dial which hopefully has addressed the extrememly undersized mounting point?.

These cost more than £100 and I expect them to last more than 12 months, and it seems that several people are finding the same issue.

Search on this community forum for (xbox wireless headset volume wheel has fallen off) for other such examples of where this has happened.

Also note, I purchased 3 of these headsets at the same time, so now I am worried with the extremely lightweight design that the others are likely to soon follow in the same direction, in one of the other chats Microsoft even confirmed that they can't be sent in for out of warranty repairs either.

    :)

The problem is that it has been demonstrated that others (as it seems a poor design and a clear product floor) that have gone the route you suggest have found there isn’t any kind of replacement or out of warranty process nor even a way for someone to pay to get spare parts.

However in the UK at least we have Consumer Rights which extends past the 12 month manufacturer warranty (6 years in the UK).

But I was hoping not to go that route, especially when this seems to be a design issue causing the problem that many people have had, and so being able to provide at cost or even send out replacement parts would mean not having to go a complicated route to get devices fixed.

    Hello M1sterd,

Thank you for getting back with the thread and truly appreciate for the information.

Firstly, I apologized for the link provided. Here is the link on how to provide feedback to Team Xbox:

You can follow the steps under 'Report a new Problem'. With regards to your questions if you can speak with anyone directly, submitting feedback is a platform to report new issues found or suggesting for improvement. This will be collected by the Xbox Team so that they can run an investigation and rolled out a fix to be included in their future development. With regards to accessories repair like what you are describing about your headset, we do not have a dedicated support for this, and it is only Xbox device service is available. What we can offer about accessory issue is replacement if it is under warranty.

For your reference, see the articles provided in the link below:

In addition to my question above, the more I look into this the more I am finding it seems to be a common issue, will reporting it to the XBox Report a Problem app actually get me to speak to anyone regarding the issue? Or will they just say as per the other similar chats that there isnt a mechanism to request a repair on these expensive headsets?

Can’t this thread be left open for a short period as I have a feeling others have already gone the dedicated route and got nowhere (see other thread I mention), as if that is the case I would like to follow up on here?.

Also it says click on the link or use the dedicated app, I couldn’t see a link and I am not sure which app you are referring to?.
