Xbox wireless headset problems on windows 11

I just connected my xbox wireless headset to my new windows 11 PC, but noticed some problems that I have not had with the headset before on my old windows 10 pc. On my old pc when the headset was connected, there were two devices in the bluetooth list - one of which had good sound when selected and the other one really bad sound quality. On my new windows 11 pc only one device connects and the sound quality is good when I watch YouTube for example. But when I tried opening a game, the sound instantly became worse, and I dont know how to fix it. What could I do to get good sound quality again like on my old pc?

    :)

Xbox wireless headset problems on windows 11

Hi ShüshDigga, my name is Vanessa, and I would be happy to help.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Xbox Wireless Headset on Windows 11.

Based on the information you've provided, it sounds like the headset is connecting properly to your PC, but the sound quality is poor when used for gaming.

Here are a few things you can try to fix this problem:

Make sure your headset is up to date with the latest firmware. You can do this by visiting the Xbox website and downloading the latest firmware for your headset.
Try restarting your PC. This can sometimes fix minor audio issues.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the audio drivers on your PC. You can do this by following these steps:

Go to Settings > System > About.

    Click on "System details".

In the "PC specifications" section, find the name of your PC manufacturer and model.

Go to the website of your PC manufacturer and search for the audio drivers for your PC model.

Download the audio drivers and install them on your PC.

Here are some additional tips that may help:

Make sure your PC has the latest Windows drivers installed.
Try using an Ethernet connection instead of a Wi-Fi connection.
Try playing at a different time of day, when the network is less busy.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help.

    Best regards,
    Vanessa.

    Hello Gabriel Sahuc,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We understand that you're experiencing issues with your Xbox Wireless Headset on your PC. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner for you to get back to gaming.

There could be issues with the Bluetooth or connection we are using for Xbox Wireless Headset. Otherwise, drivers could be the key for fixing the issue. Let us isolate the issue and we would like to ask for details below:

    1. Are we having issues connecting your headset to another device like phone?
    2. May we confirm if you have connecting issues with the Xbox Controller?
    3. Is the Bluetooth driver updated?
    4. Since you mention about iSSP Port, do you mind taking a screenshot of the list of drivers where you can see this issue? Please share the screenshot and conceal any personal information.

As per support article, you may try to perform this:

    • Have you tried resetting the headset and repairing it with your PC? You can reset the headset by pressing and holding the pairing button on the left earcup for 10 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly.
    • Another one, have you tried updating the Bluetooth drivers on your PC? You can do this by going to the Device Manager, right-clicking on the Bluetooth device, and selecting "Update driver."
    • Headset keeps getting disconnected: If your headset is repeatedly disconnecting from your device, first try restarting both devices and re-pairing the headset. If the disconnection problem persists, check if there's a firmware update for your headset. If that doesn't correct the problem, perform a hard reset of the headset.

The New Xbox Wireless Headset! Huge drawback?

    Hello,

Specifications and system requirements for the Xbox Wireless Headset, along with what‘s included can be found here:

Windows 10 use requires Bluetooth 4.2+, Xbox Wireless adapter or compatible USB-C cable. Each sold separately, explaining why both the adapter and cable weren't included with the headset.

    XINPUT compatible HID Device

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

Thank you for contacting Xbox Support. We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 on your Windows 11 machine.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that there is a compatibility issue between the wireless adapter driver and the Windows 11 operating system. The older driver that you installed from the CAB file may work temporarily, but it is not recommended as it may cause other problems or conflicts with your system.

The XINPUT compatible HID Device is the driver that allows your controller to work with games that support the Xbox controller. You do not need to update this driver manually, as Windows will automatically install the latest version for you. However, if you encounter any issues with the controller functionality, you can try to uninstall and reinstall this driver from Device Manager.

To troubleshoot this issue, please try the following steps:

    - Make sure your headset is paired with your controller. To do this, press and hold the pairing button on your controller until the Xbox button flashes rapidly. Then, press and hold the pairing button on your headset until you hear a tone. You should see a solid light on both devices when they are paired.

    - Check your audio settings on your Windows 11 machine. To do this, right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sound settings. Then, click on Manage sound devices and make sure your headset is enabled as an output device. You can also click on the volume icon in the taskbar and select your headset from the drop-down menu.

    - Update your wireless adapter and controller drivers. To do this, open Device Manager and expand the Other devices and Human Interface Devices categories. Right-click on the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows and XINPUT compatible HID device and select Update driver. Then, choose Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the instructions.

    - Test your wireless adapter and headset with another device. To do this, try connecting them to another Windows 11 machine or an Xbox console and see if the audio works. This will help you determine if the problem is with your original device or with the wireless adapter or headset.

We hope this helps and we appreciate your patience and cooperation.
