Xbox Wireless headset. Choppy - broken sound

I have the Xbox wireless headset. Recently the sound has been almost robotic / broken / choppy. It's very frustrating. I did a search and most people are suggesting it's an issue with the Dongle, which I have. But it also happens on my new Series X so it's not the dongle for me.

I've done a reset etc.... I've ensured it's up to date on the app.

Any clues? Is it faulty?

Any resolution on this? I have been having the same issue on my series X as well. Kinda infuriating, and it's out of warranty.

I just looked at my Microsoft account and it isn't on my devices. I bought direct from Microsoft so thought it got added automatically?

Anyway I was a day one customer (pre ordered) so around 16/03

I've done this, Both suggestions but no different. My concern is that I get the same issue on PC when I use the official Xbox wireless dongle.

I struggle to see how it's anything other than a faulty headset

I meant added them to my Microsoft account. I have now but I don't see how that would help with audio problems?
