Xbox wireless headset audio dropout Xbox Series X

    Hi team Xbox,

I have an Xbox wireless headset and I am using it in combination with the XSX. Now I do love it and I can see a serious amount of efforts has been put into it and it has neat features and good audio quality.

But it has one major flaw: the audio with the XSX randomly disconnects. I think, this mainly happens when I am using the dual audio source function, e.g. gaming on the XSX and having it connected with my Galaxy S21. Just before the loss of the audio from the XSX (this is always the case, not the bluetooth streaming of the Galaxy S21) I hear some stutter and crackling and then.... No more audio from the XSX. The other source keeps on playing just fine (e.g. a phone call, or YouTube video or listening to music). I am only 6 feet away from my XSX and my Galaxy S21 just lies next to me.

I can only get the audio back, when I power off the Wireless Headset and turning it back on, having to wait to pair again with the XSX. As you might understand, this is extremely frustrating when doing competitive online Multiplayer (like Warzone).

Now what I did in the meantime:

    - Update the Wireless Headset to the latest firmware (via the accessoires app)

    - Hard reset Xbox Wireless Headset (quite tricky to execute)

    - Hard reset XSX

    - Sent back the Xbox Wireless Headset and tried it with a new one, but the same issue occurs

What is going on? Can you increase the stability of the connections? As I already tried two headsets I am sure this issues pertains to a flaw in the Wireless Headset. I do think this is a shame, you could have easily found out during bug testing sessions? Will there be an update or do I have to send this one back as well and try another brand?

Thank you and please take this matter seriously, I have seen other people complaining about this on forums.

    :)

Will XBox Series X support external DAC/Amp hardware via USB?

There are multiple articles stating audio compatibility via USB. If optical is necessary, there are various HDMI to optical devices available which you may need to add.

"Some gaming headsets that utilize an optical cable may require a firmware update to support game and chat audio over USB on Xbox Series X. Soundbars and headsets that do not receive updates may be connected
directly to your televisions optical port."

    Xbox Series X audio dropout

Hello, Smith117. Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox Community expert user. I'll be happy to assist you today.

I saw this happening with some people. How are your audio settings inside Xbox? Is HDMI Audio on or Optical Audio on?

You'll need to try different audio configurations to see if one makes this audio issue go away. If it's a no audio at all issue it's easier to find what the problem is, but for intermittent audio issues (specially just for a couple of seconds each hour) it'll be very hard to find what the issue is.

But please, if you can, try playing with different audio settings and output and see if the problem goes away.

    Xbox 360 series controller

For xbox one controllers and xbox series controllers

by bluetooth if your pc has this (does not support audio passthrough so no headest support via controller).

by wire (this supports audio passthough for headsets via controller)

by purchasing the xbox wireless adapter for pc (this supports audio passthough for headsets via controller)
