  1. Xbox Wireless Headset audio balance (left ear cup dial) not working on Console (SOLVED)

The model of the headset I’m referring to is the Xbox Wireless Stereo headset made for Xbox Series X|S. For some reason, the left audio knob is no longer working the way it should. It’s supposed to work as an audio balance, giving you the option to prioritize which is louder, game or party chat. Now it’s decided to pair them together, giving you little control and making audio much louder than it needs to be. The right side of the headset still works as a master volume control, meaning you can just clip the audio way higher than it should be.

I have owned this headset for 2 years, and have never given it a software update since I bought it. The problem occurred before updating, and I only updated it recently just out of desperation to get it to work, but nothing came of it. The console I’m using is an Xbox Series X. I need help fixing this issue.

Edit: I found a fix for the issue. I had my party chat settings set to “Speakers” instead of headset. For some reason, chat still came through but you couldn’t customize the balance. I can do so now. Keeping this up in case someone else has this same problem. Check your audio settings!

Settings > Volume & Audio Output > Additional Options > Party Chat Output > Headset

My xbox headset chat isn't working

Alright. Be sure the headset volume isn't turned all the way down. The dial on the outside of the left earcup adjusts the audio balance between game and chat audio. Be sure the dial isn't rotated completely in one direction, as this will effectively mute either game or chat audio.

Can't connect headset to Xbox Series X after latest update

    Hi Savannah,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues Xbox wireless headset. First, please make sure that you disconnect it from other device such as your phone or PC. If you’re experiencing audio issues where you can’t hear or others can’t hear you, first check the headset’s volume, balance, and mute settings:

    1. The headset volume is controlled by turning the dial on the outside of the right earcup. Be sure the headset volume isn’t turned all the way down.

    2. The dial on the outside of the left earcup adjusts the audio balance between game and chat audio. Be sure the dial isn’t rotated completely in one direction, as this will effectively mute either game or chat audio.

    3. Be sure your headset mic isn’t muted (when muted, the light at the end of the mic will switch off). The headset’s mute button is located on the back end of the mic attachment, on the bottom of the left earcup.

If none of these settings is causing the audio issue, check the headset settings in the Xbox Accessories app. On Xbox X|S and Xbox One consoles, you can access the Accessories app in the Settings menu: Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories.

Turtle beach 800x no system/game audio *voice chat works

Open Chat mixer and make sure that the Mute all other sounds isn't checked (I use Do nothing on my consoles).

There is also an option missing in your Headset audio section which you need to check if you are "Using a headset that uses HDMI or optical audio out". The part in quote marks in last sentence is the missing option. Try changing to Windows Sonic for Headphones
to see if that adds the missing option. If it still doesn't show up then maybe try changing HDMI audio to Bitstream out too.

Check the Game volume on your headset left ear cup. If that is all the way down then you won't hear game sounds. Chat volume is adjusted on the right ear cup.

    Good luck!
