Xbox wireless adaptor stopped working suddenly. Does not show in device manager.

    I'll try to be brief.

My xbox wireless adaptor stopped working today out of seemingly nowhere. All the devices previously connected, including headset and controller, don't auto connect like normal, I can't get them to reconnect and the light doesn't flash when the pair button is pressed. I was using it earlier in the day in my laptop before unplugging it and leaving the house for an hour then returning and plugging it into my desktop, which I commonly do, and came upon this problem.

For the throubleshooting, the adaptor does not show up in device manager as anything, not even under other devices or unrecognised. It does not work in other usb ports or even other computers. I have tried all steps in the linkeds here but many of the steps require the device to show up in the device manager in some way. It really does seem like it just died out of nowhere.

Are there any other troubleshooting steps I could try or am I out of luck?

    :)

Xbox wireless adaptor stopped working suddenly. Does not show in device manager.

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.

I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this Nicktory

As the adapter is not recognized even on other computers, everything points to be a hardware issue with the adapter :c

    Xbox Dongle and Windows 11

Hi NOON J. My name is Kyle and I'm an independent advisor.

Where did you get the drivers from? The drivers for the Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows are embedded within the Windows 10/11 operating system, if you downloaded them from somewhere they were possibly illegitimate or unofficial drivers. I'd recommend uninstalling those drivers immediately.

    Try the following solutions:

    - Make sure Windows is up to date by going to Windows Update on your device and checking for available updates.

    - Reboot your device and try again.

    - Try another USB 2.0 or 3.0 port.

    - Try reinstalling the drivers in case they have partially installed. To do so, you need to uninstall the drivers. Follow these steps to complete this process:

Go to Device Manager. Locate Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows in the Network adapters section.

Select Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows to bring up the Properties window.

Select the Driver tab. On the Driver tab, select Uninstall or Uninstall Device (depending on your version of Windows).

On the confirmation window, check the Delete the driver software for this device box.

Unplug the Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows and reboot your Windows device. Once the device is back on, plug in the adaptor.

If the Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows still does not install, follow all of the above steps thoroughly one more time

If this doesn't work, your adaptor might need to be replaced. It comes with a 90-day warranty, contact the seller to claim this warranty. If it's past the warranty all I can advise is buying a new adapter.

    Thanks,
    Kyle

Xbox One controller on Win 10 Forgets the Xbox Adapter for Windows

I guess another option to stop pc from forgetting is maybe by keeping xbox adaptor on at all times. To do this go to device manager > network adaptor > properties > power management > untick allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

I'm giving it a go and seems to do the trick however the xbox adaptor stays on even after switching off your pc. not sure if this has any negative impacts on the xbox adaptor. highly doubt it.

Xbox Elite Controller 2 will not connect VIA usb or Bluetooth to my pc

My mistake, i failed to mention it was the version 2. Also it doesn't work wired or wireless with my pc. Pc doesn't see it wia Bluetooth and says that device has faied to be recognized. Yet works fine with the Xbox.
Gotcha, does it show up under device manager as failed device (or not working) Control Panel > Device Manager (will like appear under Human Interface Devices). If it does, try uninstalling it from there and removing drivers and try installing it again.
