XBox Wireless Adapter Not lighting up or pairing on windows pc.

I have tried all the solutions listed on the website.

The problem I am having is that there is no power management tab when I go into device manager.

I had to download a driver for the adapter as it initially showed up as XBOX ACC, it seems to be working now as it recognizes the device and I can use the search web for updates functions and it tells me it is up to date instead of throwing an error.

What I believe is the problem is that the computer is making the adapter hibernate, but there is no point at which the light on the adapter is on so it is possible there is another problem.

If you’re using the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10:

Turn on your PC and sign in.
Plug the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows into your PC. For more info, see
Set up the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.
Turn on your controller by pressing the
Xboxbutton. When you turn on the controller, the
Xbox button will start flashing.
Press and hold the
Pair button on the Xbox Wireless Adapter. A small light will flash for several seconds.
Press and hold the
Pairbutton on the top of the controller (the raised button). The
Xbox button on the controller will flash more rapidly – this means your controller is searching for the Xbox Wireless Adapter.
When connected, the Xbox button on the controller will stay lit.

Also share the information about the windows version you are using please, also if this is the Xbox 360 or Xbox one

Under device manager, in the network adapter section (because thats where it is) I see "xbox wireless adapter for windows".

I have tried pairing a controller via cable *and* via wireless, nothing happens no matter what I do.

The controller remains unpaired and the light that is supposed to appear on the adapter does not.

Please check these steps below.

What you are seeing with the LEDs is an indication that the Xbox 360 Explorer controller is entering pairing mode, not working mode. In order for the controller to function on your PC, you must first pair it with the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter.

Steps to pair the controller with the wireless adapter:

Connect the wireless adapter: Connect the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter to a USB port on your PC.

Press the pairing button on the adapter: On the wireless adapter, there is a small button (usually near the USB port). Press and hold this button for a few seconds. The LED on the adapter should start blinking.

Turn on the controller: Press the Xbox button in the center of the controller to turn it on.

Thanks Chirs. I followed the two methods shown below to pair the Elite Wireless Controller. However, it does not show up under Windows 10. What shall I do? By "push the button on the Xbox Wireless Adapter", do they mean pressing the end of the usb adpater?
My adapter is the smaller black version.
