Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 cannot wake Windows 10 PC via controller

Hi, I have the same question as RobinDB had here and I hope some Microsoft Agent/Microsoft Employee can answer this time. The issue is that the new "Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10" (2018 version) does not currently allow to wake a Windows 10 PC from sleep via a press of the guide button on Xbox One/Series controller. This feature worked fine with the older bigger "Microsoft Xbox One Wireless Controller Adapter for Windows" (2015 version). This is with both the adapters having the "Device Manager > Network adapters > Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows > Properties > Power Management > Allow this device to wake the computer" checked. With the older bigger 2015 adapter, the PC will wake up from sleep with the press of the guide button on Xbox One controller, with the newer smaller 2018 adapter it will not. The only way how to wake the computer from sleep via the new one (2018) is to press the pair button on the USB adapter which beats the purpose if you want to have your gaming PC in a living room with easy to start experience via controller (basically like a console). So, I have two questions:

    1. Does Microsoft acknowledge this issue as a regression of the 2018 model over the 2015 model of Xbox Wireless Adapter? There are many people having this issue as seen here, here and here.
    2. Does Microsoft plan to fix this issue via a firmware update of the "Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10" (2018 version) and/or the Xbox One/Series controller? If not, will there be a new hardware revision of the adapter that fixes this issue in Windows 10?

Thank you ahead for looking into this.

    :)

Can the X Box One Wireless Controller with Bluetooth also be used with the X Box One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10?

    Hi Beau,

Thank you for coming to the Xbox forums, I'd be happy to answer that.

The Xbox One Wireless controller with Bluetooth can be connected to a Windows 10 PC with a USB cable, Bluetooth, or with the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10, so yes, it can be connected via the adapter. The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 is not
compatible with an Xbox 360 controller and will need the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows. I'll provide the support articles with this information:

    I hope this helps!

Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 cannot wake Windows 10 PC via controller

Hello, unfortunately I have never received any more info, doesn't look like Microsoft cares. My "solution" was to take the new smaller adapter (2018 version, model 1713), pack it back to the box I got it in, and never see it again as it's useless for me. I am using a used large adapter (2015 version, model 1790) and I don't observe any drawbacks except it being large.

I don't think the old one is on sale anywhere, so try something like Facebook Marketplace/craigslist/eBay/whatever is available in your region to buy used things.

Hi Klofi did you ever receive any more info on this? I just bought the smaller adapter and am extremely dissapointed since I use my PC only for gaming and it sits under my entertainment console hooked up to my TV just like an xbox. I have to get down on the floor to turn it on each time, or use the keyboard and mouse, which I don't want to have to have out on the coffee table.

Short of any updates on the small adapter, do you know if the big adapter works just as well? and if there's somewhere I can still buy it. If that's the only solution then I'll have to get it.

There is no mention of this on the internet, but that is what appears to have happened since the old device works that way with the new controller.

You mean removed intentionally? Do you have a have a link to some source confirming that? Microsoft markets the new version as replacement for the old version with no mention about removing an existing feature, only that it is now smaller. As I said before, it even has exactly the same product code in ecommerce websites as the old one.

Yes I still have the old adapter, wakes the PC fine. The new adapter paired with the same Xbox Series controller does not wake the PC. Comparison of both:
