XBOX use notification.

Hello,

I am curious if there is a way to get a notification on my IPHONE when my son turns on the XBOX. Plus I would not want him to circumvent this measure either. The Microsoft parental controls are good, but I would really like to get a notification in real
time when he uses the XBOX.

Hi! While I don't know for sure, I'd assume that the Xbox app for iOS offers this feature (if it works the same as the android app) as long as you have added your sons account as a friend/favorite and enabled notifications when your friends/favorites go

Where it wouldn't be an exact notification of turning on the console, this supplies information on when a game/app was accessed.

Unfortunately, there isn’t.

The closest you’ll get for now is using the Xbox iPhone app. If you add him as a friend you’ll be able to look under the “Friends & Clubs” heading in the app and see whether or not he’s logged in and what is being viewed.

In checking the app right now, only one of my sons is presently logged in, and his Xbox is on the “Home” screen.

While the app will give you the information, it won’t notify you with any sort of alert. You’ll actually have to check.

 

on android u can turn on/off notifications for individual apps, idk if u can do that with !phone. but if u can enable notifications for the xbox app have ur son on ur friends list and favorites on ur friends list. u should get a notification on ur phone
anytime he logs in on his account regardless of what console he signs Into and will also tell u which game he is playing. but u also have to have his xbox account privacy settings set up to where his friend (which would be you as long as it on his friends
list) can seen him get online and see what games he's playing. if his account is set up to not allow his friends to see this then u will not get notifications. it works for me for several of my friends but I have a note 4 and note 8

 

I'm afraid, that due to privacy issues, such a function might not be implemented.

While you can keep track of your kid's console usage with the activity reports as XBF Javier R already suggested, all other "workarounds" like using the Xbox App and having your kid as a friend that notifies you when the kid goes online, can be avoided by
your kid when he chooses to "appear offline" in his profile settings.

Is there a certain reason WHY you need the real time information instead of the activity report? Maybe if you explained the situation and need for a real time notification, we might find a different solution?

It's the place where they look for requested features and for a family situation I do feel this can be a very useful item.

And perhaps it will be something they add in some way in the future.

 

Not 100% sure about this but i know that you can set a pass code to individual accounts that would/could prevent him from adjusting settings but not sure if appearing on/off line is affected by pass code or not but i think it will lock settings preventing
him from changing profile to appear offline. Like i said, I'm not 100% sure about that but it should work

I am in agreement with WPAK statement to post on uservoice that is place where ideas are shared then voted upon and if enough then some do get implemented if it possible.

Since passcodes are mentioned:

If you want the notification for real-time alerts about your kid using the console is because you set a time limit (e.g. 1 hour of gaming per day), but you want your kid to only play after their homework is done at 4pm for example, you could go to the console
and sign in with your kid's account, and lock it with a passcode.

After 4pm, you send the kid a text message with the current passcode, so they can unlock their profile and play.

After one hour is up, and the kid has used up their "gaming allowance", you change the passcode to something different for tomorrow. Then the next day, after 4pm you send them a new text message with the updated code each day.

While you don't get information about when your kid uses the console, you can at least be sure they can't use it, until you give them permission to use it by sending them the current passcode for their account.
