Xbox Updates

I logged onto xbox today and noticed there was an update, however, it was apparent that it had
failed to update. It made me test my internet and it wouldn't let me so I simply restarted my xbox and that connected it to the internet. I tried updating again, but it gave me an
error message saying I wasn't connected to the internet even when it said I was. I was clicking
"update console" over and over and it seemed like it wasn't even budging, so I unplugged it for about 30 seconds. Finally it connected for good and even allowed me to start a party until that dreaded error came up again. I unplugged it for
30 seconds again and looked into the settings to see if it would let me see what was going on. What's actually stupid is that
it said there was no updates and whenever I tapped on "updates" it said
"last update failed" even though it said there were none..

I really don't want to do a hard reset on my xbox because quite frankly, I don't have the time to actually go back and put all my accounts back in, etc. Anyone having this problem as well or is it just me?
