xbox update issue

Hi

If it is happening with system updates then I would recommend you use the console in instant on mode and confirm the option to allow the console to download game and system updates.

Those updates are pushed out by the Dev's of the game, not Microsoft directly. Microsoft simply approve of the release and boom, away it goes. At what time is at the game dev's discretion. Usually when an update like that get's pushed out at an awkward
or high volume time it's due to a serious fix that's needed or a patch that can't wait. I don't think they're out to be malicious at all but, I feel your pain.

You probably had gone past the mandatory time for the update, hence why it went to the update screen when you turned it on. Also there was a Live core issue affecting sign in and updates the last 2 days.

The restart after verify takes a while, maybe a couple of minutes, so if you normally do automatic updates with Instant on mode overnight, you wouldn't be used to the wait while it restarts. Typically the TV will show no input right before the XBox
console will start back up and go to the Applying stage of the update.

Try this.. Turn off the console and remove the power cable for a couple of minutes.

Restore power and turn on.. All being well the update should continue.

This kind of update is NOT pushed out by the game developers. It was a system update not a game update.
