    Xbox Update/ Internet Problems


    I moved recently and am now trying to add the wired mac to my list of devices for my internet provider. I keep getting an error code when I try to view my network advanced settings that says something along the lines of needing an update. To do so, internet
    is required, yet that's all I'm trying to set up in the beginning. It's becoming a little frustrating since it feels a bit like a constant circle of problems.... I can't find a solution yet, so any help is greatly appreciated.

    Mandatory Update a real thing?

    I've heard that if you disconnect the Xbox one from the internet and new updates become available, you'll have to do a mandatory update if you don't want to update it with the new available updates after some time (assuming that time is a few weeks) even if you don't connect it back to the internet and won't be able to really do anything with the console until you reconnect to the internet and do the mandatory update. I need to know because I'm planning on buying the One and game offline for a temporary time until my internet is back up. Setting up the Xbox won't be a problem which I'll be doing somewhere else with an internet connection as some of you already know from my other thread. Just need to know if the mandatory update is true or not because if it is, I'll just wait until my internet is back up then buy the One without having to struggle with the mandatory update.

    These frequent updates are kind of annoying.

    without any condescending tone, if time and internet connection is a problem, you could take a minute to turn on the console and check for an update for the Xbox or the specific game before hand just in case there is one and you just want to sit down and play.

    No, i can't.

    This is one of the problems but no the main problem.

    The principal problem is that i can't play xbox when i connect it to internet (do not let me enter the game, demo or whatever). I can to play without internet and i can connect to internet without play, but i cant do both.

    I want try to solve it installing the xbox live update again (it could be the source of the problem due a bad instalation of the update), however i can't.

    I try by usb, dvd, and by the internet test, but doesn't install automatically or show the option to reinstall the update.

    Hi MandieHughes! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

    Please perform a power cycle reset, follow these steps:

    Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

    Restart your Xbox console. Press and hold the Xbox button in the center of your Xbox controller to open the Power Center. Select Restart console and then select Restart. (If the console appears to be frozen, press and hold the Xbox button  on the console for 10 seconds, until the console turns off. After the console shuts down, touch the Xbox button on the console again to restart.)

    After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

    If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

    If this doesn't work, please try using a mobile hotspot to connect your console trough it

    Thank you so much for that, it worked a treat. It is now working and I have 2 happy boys who can now play on it tomorrow as we're now doing all the updates on the games.

    Microsoft needs to release a new update to solve the problems from the 12/6 update

    This problem has nothing to do with routers and our internet. Its the xbox live update...
