Xbox update in the middle of ranked match

I was playing Rocket League and was in ranked match and in overtime. Suddenly I got a pop up saying there is an update for xbox with options - update now and stay offline. I had no option to continue my match. Joining back after the update I realized I lost the match and was banned temporarily.

How the heck am I getting an update popup in the middle of an online game?

This has happened 3-4 times till this point. It cost me my game and rankings.

are you part of the insider program, have you set the console to fully shutdown when off.

that may be why, when an update is available the console will always try to update during the early hours when in instant on mode so you don't get interruptions, it will also try and keeps games up to date too.

No I am not part of any insider program. And I have set the console to fully shutdown when off as opposed to instant on.

how long till we get a fix for this issue. its very annoying being in ranked and getting my console shut off in the middle of a match causing me to lose points

This is pretty stupid idk how they forgot this. I'm in the middle of a ranked match in ki and all of a sudden my controller turns off and I get screwed over. Thank god for rage quit.
