    Xbox unique gamertags


    Hi,

    I had a unique gamertag on one account and wanted to change it over to a different account. I changed the gamertag on the original account to something different, and am trying to get the unique gamertag now on my other account. However, even though the gamertag no longer belongs to an xbox user, I cannot make my gamertag unique (without suffix).

    Anyone know if you can have a unique gamertag twice so long as it's no longer in use, or if I just lost the only chance at having my unique gamertag?

    Would appreciate any insight.

    As long as no one else takes it after you change it, it'll be freed up for use, but it can take time for the server to update to show that it's free.

    To resolve this problem, choose another gamertag.

    Xbox Live gamertags are unique and personal. We protect this uniqueness by not allowing the same gamertag to be created with different spacing. For example, if “Coolgamertag” is taken, that means “Cool gamertag” and “cool gamer tag” are also taken.

    Hi there,

    as far as I know, this is not possible, the numbers will make the Gamertag unique and are automatically generated, the Gamertag (without #0000) does not have to be unique anymore.

    I use the Xbox app or Console Companion App. You would look up the tag as if you're looking up a friend and try adding some spaces as well.
