Xbox Ultimate Game Pass for PC for my son- how to do it and parental controls

Hi there

My son, who is 12, wants an ultimate gaming pass for his PC which is fine but I am having real trouble finding out how to do it.

If I buy it myself can he use it and how do I add parental controls to ensure he doesn't play anything age inappropriate?

I tried buying it on his account which is part of my family group and thus has all the parental controls in place but it says it can't, not even the option of parental approval.

Any help much appreciated.

To add, if he's only using a PC, you do not need Ultimate. Just Game Pass for PC. It will save you a few bucks.

you can get redeemable codes online which is usually the easiest way as i do this for my sons on their pc's

something like the following as an example, just make sure you get the right code for your country

if he wants ultimate then just get a redeemable code for that instead, but unless he is using xcloud and a console it is a waste of money

Hi thanks for the reply, I have the home Xbox feature already set up.

Can’t see an option for game pass friends and family Uk?

If that’s the case can I just cancel my membership and take one out on my sons account? Or do I still need to have the game pass ultimate being the parent?

your son will also need to add xbox live gold subscription or purchase xbox game pass ultimate which includes gold, game pass and pc game pass.

Thanks for the response! We don’t have an Xbox only PC. I bought the pass using my Xbox profile because my son couldn’t- it just said you need a parent to buy so that’s the only way we could find to do it.

So what we want to do is access the game pass on the same pc but with his profile. Is there no way of family sharing on the pc?
