Xbox ultimate game pass / family sharing - worrying solution

Hi, i'm hoping this community can shed some light on a crazy solution telephone support gave me when trying to allow my son to use the ultimate game pass subscription we just paid for. I believe it puts minors at risk as well as allowing children access
to your account.

1. I have a microsoft account that I administrate the family subscriptions including office365 and xbox ultimate games pass.

2. I have downloaded the xbox companion app on the PC. I login and it links my login details on the PC with my gamertag on the xbox. I can then access all games available through the ultimate game pass.

3. My son can access all the games available on the xbox through the ultimate games pass as can I. So far so good.

However...

4. When my son logs on to the PC and tries to access (through the xbox app) the ultimate games pass games - its says he doesn't have access and he has to upgrade/ pay to access it.

5. The terms and conditions and one of the selling points of ultimate games pass is that you can share it with those in your family group and gives access to all of the games pass games across PC and xbox.

And this is where it just gets ridiculous....

6. According to Microsoft support - for my son to access Ultimate games pass games on the PC. I have to log him out of the Microsoft store app (that automatically picks his details up from him logging into the PC). I THEN HAVE TO LOGIN USING MY DETAILS on
the Microsoft store app. I then refresh the xbox app on the PC and he then has access to the ultimate games pass. But now (he's young) he has full access to anything in the store app as I'm logged in!

7. Furthermore, if we both want to play the same game, we both have to download a full version of the game on the same hard drive!

This can't be right - please someone at Microsoft look at this as this cant be the way that it was intended to work.

thanks for your reply. But I dont think this addresses any of the key points or issues. What's the point in having things like parental controls and family settings if I have to login with my account every time my son wants to play a game on the PC. Also,
if the xbox had to download an additional version of the same game for every profile on that xbox people would say that's crazy. But because its on a PC, its okay? I'm taking about the same PC having two versions of the same game! And if my daughter wants
to play with her profile i have to download it a third time on the same PC! That makes no sense.

I think you are missing one important point

Home console is ONLY a console feature not a pc feature regardless of company

And yes in order to use xgu games you must be signed in on ms store app

Howevrr any games purchased not downloaded via xgu can be used by all profiles

Xgu benefits only extend to playing online on console as a gold.benefit

Your profile MUST download the free games on the console still to be usrd

I'm so sorry for what you're going through yes, multiplayer may not work with shared play.

Game sharing is a feature that allows members of a family to share their games and subscriptions with other family members. However, live multiplayer is not included in the shared game.

To play live multiplayer, the family member signing into the game must have an active Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

In this case, the person sharing games with you may not have an active Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. If so, you will not be able to play live multiplayer.

To check if the person you're sharing games with has an active Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you can ask them to go to Settings > Account > Subscriptions.

If the person you're sharing games with has an active Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, but you still can't play live multiplayer, there may be another issue.

Game Pass Ultimate can also be shared to the Home Xbox, yes.

Yes I think there should be a Game Pass Ultimate Family package for 4 or 5 users to share.
