Xbox UI errors

I was playing Fortnite and all was going well until I returned to the home screen to switch to a different game (Overwatch). Naturally, I selected Overwatch and the game crashed-that is where a range of issues started (This is about my first 5 months
with an xbox, and this is the first time something like this happened which is why I'm being specific).

Overwatch

• Immediate crash without seeing any of its coded visuals
• After the crash, a pop up appeared that read something along the lines of "You need this update, but we cant get it this time, please try again after a while" followed by an error code
• After I closed the error and try again once more, it crashed yet again followed by the same error

Fortnite-Had the exact same problems as Overwatch after I first exited it

So I did the next logical thing and turned the console off, and after no results, I unplugged from the power entirely. Here were the general issues I encountered while doing so:

General

• When I press the Xbox logo on my controller to sign in, the menu that appears isn't affected by the joysticks, instead the background of the home screen reacts
• After Several attempts to get it workingd, sometimes the sign in menu wouldn't show up at all
• After I unplugged my xbox from the power and turned it back on, the screen was blackish/grayish and I couldn't see anything
