Xbox thinks headset connected anytime I remote play on iPad

    Hi all,

I’m having a constant issue that anytime I connect to remote play with my iPad, I have no sound coming from the iPad and the Xbox thinks a headset is attached. I have tried with multiple controllers, with same problem. I can turn on remote play upstairs, see the headset symbol, come downstairs and start playing on my actual Xbox, and the symbol goes away. I have stuck a 3.5mm in the controller to see if maybe something loose and making the controller think there’s a headset plugged in to no avail. It’s driving me crazy. Its important to note that when I first did remote play years ago, it worked perfectly with no problems. In day, just stopped working.

Please let me know if anyone’s experienced something similar and what they did to fix it. Thank you.

    :)

At this point I advise you to unlink and re-link the devices connected to your Xbox

ok then Disconnect any controllers or Bluetooth devices: Make sure there are no controllers or other Bluetooth devices connected to the Xbox or iPad

In your Xbox settings, go to "Settings" -> "General" -> "Volume & Audio Output". Make sure the "Headset" option is disabled or set correctly. You can also try changing the audio output settings on the Xbox to see if that fixes the problem.

Reset network settings on your iPad and Xbox On iPad, go to "Settings" -> "General" -> "Reset" -> "Reset network settings." This will erase existing network settings on your iPad and can help fix any connection or communication issues that are occurring. On the Xbox, go to "Settings" -> "Network" -> "Advanced Settings" -> "Reset Settings" and follow the instructions to reset your network settings.

If the problem persists Try a different HDMI cable If you are using an HDMI cable to connect your iPad to the Xbox, try using a different cable to rule out the possibility that the cable is causing the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply David.

I checked both things you mentioned. Both are set to no headphones and iPad speaker output. I did a little more troubleshooting and realize that the iPad causes the Xbox to immediately go into headset mode, even if there is no controller attached. Not sure if that helps or not, but something the iPad is doing is definitely making the Xbox think there’s a headset attached.

Hello Jesse, My name is David. I am an independent advisor, happy to help you today.

Restart your iPad and Xbox Sometimes restarting your devices can resolve temporary issues. Turn both your iPad and Xbox off and on again to see if that fixes the problem.

Check the sound settings on your iPad. Make sure the sound settings on your iPad are correctly configured for audio output. Go to Settings on your iPad, select "Sounds & Vibration," and check the audio output settings. Make sure it is set correctly for the iPad's speakers and not for headphones or external devices.

Check the audio settings on your Xbox In your Xbox settings, go to “Settings” -> “General” -> “Volume & Audio Output.” Make sure the "Headset" option is disabled or configured correctly according to your preferences.

    Best regards.

ALSO: Connecting with my iPhone to remote play on my Xbox ALSO causes the Xbox to think a headset is connected. So not just confined to connecting with my iPad.
