Xbox stuck updating and controller will not connect.

Hi, I hope you're doing great despite the issue you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

We may need to reset the console keeping games and apps but to do that, we need to at least navigate. Do you have a keyboard that we can try to use? That will do in navigating.

We will reset your console keeping your games and apps through the Xbox Troubleshooter page. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Make sure to follow the steps accordingly to access it:

1. Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.

2. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

3. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.

4. Press and hold the Pair button and the Eject button, and then press the Xbox button on the console.

5. Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.

6. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone.

When the console powers up, you will see the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter. Please click on "Reset this Xbox" then "Reset and keep my games and apps".

Exactly like soldierboy333 said, the red and white leads into the audio out connections on the tv. On that cable should be the green female headphone plug to connect the headset to, don't forget the USB to power the headset too. Then use the chat cable with
the supplied 2.5mm-3.5mm adaptor lead to connect to the stereo adaptor on your controller. Don't forget to update you controller too so it all works, give the links below a look if you get stuck:

have you checked to see if you can firmware update the controllers? You can get the Xbox accessory app for the PC connect the controller and "test" them out in it. Can you borrow a controller from a friend to see if theirs also does the same? It is
possible you have two controllers stuck in the same mode; unlikely but possible.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue with updating your controller. The easiest way would be to use a console. You don't have any friends, family, neighbors with an Xbox console? With it stuck like it is when you connect to the PC it will not
detect it at all. Try powering off the PC with the controller plugged in. Then power it back on see if it recognizes the controller after reboot.
