Xbox stuck on intro screen

My brother's Xbox one is stuck on the intro screen. (The green xbox screen). I've heard of this way of using a usb and a file and stuff, but I want to try and avoid it. Could anyone please help me? He's quite worried about it.

Hi there! Regrettably, the best way to resolve this issue, is to complete the manual update. I have had to do this a few times and have had no issues, or loss of data from doing so. It simply runs as a normal system update does.

Hello. I followed the instructions on the Microsoft site and I managed to use the offline update to fix it.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart
the console.
