    How do I make my external HDD the "harddrive of choice?"

    Somewhere in settings possibly under storage? I'm not near my Xbox but I'm pretty sure there is a storage option

    The easiest is to add an external hard drive. You can use any hard drive that has at least 256gb and is USB 3.0.

    Hi Daryl Cardoza, I am josh and try my best to help you.

    On xbox series X/S console have storage option.

    Go to My games & apps—>Manage go to Storage devices then go to Change installation location. You are in Manage change installation location. In there you have option what storage you want to use for game and use for app and movie. You will have 2 or 3 option. Internal Storage use xbox console storage. Other one Storage Expansion Card is for new generation game but xbox console let you use it like normal internal Storage . Other option is let xbox decide mean xbox console choose for you.

    Yes indeed, you can use them to store DLC. But only a maximum of 2 16GB devices at any one time.

    Note.

    If you ever want to play xbox originals on your console you will need an official MS HDD.
