Xbox stops sending audio to stereo after I turn off TV

Hi,

Does anyone else stream music to a device hooked up to the XBOX One's HDMI IN? And have a separate stereo hooked up the XBOX optical out?

Hopefully someone here has a solution. Or maybe the Xbox is designed this way on purpose?

I have Apple TV (3rd gen) hooked up to My Xbox HDMI IN. And my stereo is hooked up to XBOX optical audio out. It works fine my projector is on. (I Have a projector instead of a TV.)

Sometimes I just want to stream music to the Apple TV with the TV Off, because I don't need/want the projector on and it wastes power and lamp life.

The music streams from the Apple TV, the audio/video goes into the XBOX HDMI IN. The XBOX sends live TV to HDMI out to my projector, and the audio goes out to my stereo over the XBOX optical audio out. Great

If I turn off the projector, a couple minutes later the music stops playing to my stereo. If I turn the projector back on, the music immediately starts playing again.

My only conclusion is that the XBOX one purposely stops sending the Live TV audio to the optical out if the TV is off. As if no one would every want to listen to music with their TV off?!? Am I missing something?

I'm pretty sure I've gone through and tried all power settings and audio video settings on the Xbox one. Is it just designed this way on purpose? Is there a setting somewhere that can fix this? Seems really stupid to me that Xbox one can't send music
from HDMI IN to Optical Out unless the TV connected to HDMI OUT is powered on.

Audio settings keep resetting

I have a new Xbox One S with HDMI out to my Vizio M70-C3.

I have HDMI out (ARC) from my TV to my Vizio sound bar.

Every time I turn off and then turn on my Xbox the audio output goes from Bitstream to Stereo.

It's the only setting that keeps doing that.

Every time I turn off the Xbox my TV turns off which in turn off the sound bar.

Anyone think of a reason that the audio output is the only think that resets after turn the Xbox back on?

 

TV Picutre/Audio stutters

I have the following Xbox settings:

TV 1080p

TV connection HDMI (auto-detect)

HDTV is calibrated using Xbox One

Color depth - 24bits

Color Space TV (RGB Limited)

HDMI audio - stereo uncompressed

Optical audio - stereo uncompressed

Running a DirecTV genie satellite box (not the main box)

client : c31/700

display: native on, screen format original bar color: black

audio: dolby digital (off) [according to menu this then plays standard PCM audio)

I will say that after a further check the HDMI in was loose on the back of the XB1. Will see if that fixes anything.

 

If I am playing music from the native XBOX Groove app, the music will keep playing to my stereo even if I turn my TV off.

But not so if I am streaming the music from Apple TV into XBOX HDMI in. Music stops when TV goes off.

I also stream music to my XBO, using "Cast" from my PC, and if I turn my TV off, the music still plays. I'd suggest it's something that Apple TV is set to do by default, but I've never used Apple TV, so not certain.

Have you checked settings in Apple TV? Some HDMI controls can be set to deactivate sound if no HDMI output device is detected, and this probably would be detected even if the Xbox is on, but the TV isn't ;-).
