Xbox Stick shift problem

So, I got this Xbox about 2 years ago. It worked perfectly at the start then just 10 months ago my controller wouldn't be touched and my character would be moving by itself. So, I bought a new controller for me and someone else to play on. Then That
controller also gets the same problem. At this point, I don't know what to do because of this problem. I paid 60$ for this controller and now it has stick shift. If you had this problem and solved it without taking apart the controller please tell m I
would like to know how to solve this

Unfortunately stick drift is something that happens to almost every controller with analogue sticks after some time. I feel like the fact that a lot of games require you to click in the sticks for in-game actions has resulted in stick drift becoming more
common more quickly in these last two generations of consoles. I've had to replace a few controllers on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One because of stick drift. As Dazza said, you can fix the controllers, but that requires taking them apart and doing some soldering.
Quickest and simplest solution is getting another controller, which really sucks because they're not cheap.

Unfortunately stick drift/ghosting is caused by wear and tear or accidental damage if dropped, Theres is no way to resolve this without either repairing the controller yourself (requires disassembling and replacing the thumbstick sensors) or you would
need to buy another controller.

Can you ever shift to neutral?

will the game let you downshift without cycling down the gears?

it does not seem like using a real manual transmission, it's more like a auto-shift where you go + for up and - for down.

auto-shift aka Semi-automatic transmission vs a true Manual Stick or Column Shift.

I too have had this issue. Microsoft can't design a controller to save them. I also have had problems with the thumb sticks shifting position

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums.

In regards to this, the Adaptive Controller allows you re-map certain buttons to be registered as a different input.

For example, using that
Shift option, allows use a different set of controllers altogether, such as switching to the right stick from the left stick.

For buttons, choose a button on the controller you want to modify with Shift, then choose
Shift. Choose a button from the list (this will be the button that’s used when the Shift button is held down).

The Shift status will reflect the button you’ve chosen.

I hope this was able to clarify any confusion this might have casued.
