Xbox setup, email associated to a nickname. Never had xbox before

I bought a Xbox one X, first Xbox I've ever had, and after filling my hotmail email and password came out a nickname on the left top of the screen.

Don't know what to do now.

Just got a new XBOX, never had one before, in the setup screens they want you to log into XBOX live, when I do and enter my email and pw it says the Microsoft account is associated with a different XBOX live profile. I don't know how to fix this.- Carl

The nickname in the upper left corner (probably looks something like HappyUser56789) is your "Gamertag". This is your online name used on Xbox Live. If you like the gamertag, you can keep it. If you would rather have something else, you should be eligible
to change that tag once for free, provided it was assigned to you (and it sounds like it was).

I think you mean your gamertag you can change your gamertag only once for free so think good about your gamertag

You didnt even played any windows10 game? If you didnt have a gamertag and when you launch a windows10 game (like those free games from windows store), some of them actually made you create a gamertag, because they are linked to xbox live services
