    XBOX Set-up not progressing past System Update


    Hi All,

    My Xbox had been having issues so I sent it to the Microsoft repair center. It came back and worked but after a few days I got the green screen of death. I sent it back again and just received it this weekend. To my surprise I encountered a new error - when
    setting up the xbox it won't progress past the system update screen.

    Error

    I am stuck on the "It's time to update" portion of the initial Xbox setup. "Checking for updates" then cycles and after a few minutes the following screen occurs.

    There was a problem with the update. You need this update to use your console but something went wrong. Error Code: 0x80072F8F 0x00000000 0x00000201

    Checking the network connection I receive a message that this is a problem on Xbox's end however all Xbox systems are green and have been all weekend.

    Attempted fixes:

    Hard-wired internet connection

    Power Cycling

    Factory reset

    Installation of offline software update from Troubleshoot mode

    None of the above work - even after the offline software update.

    Please advise.

    cant install initial update... heeeeeeeelp!

    We set up the XBox One and only got as far as the update screen. It loaded the complete bar and then came back with "There was a problem with the update". Tried about 30 times to get past this with no luck! Tried their troubleshooting process to no avail.
    We were downloading wirelessly... so to make sure that there were no hiccups I broke out the ethernet cable and ran it all again. Now the message states that our system is good and that the problem is on their side! At least this got past that update screen
    and now he can load a disc and hopefully play solo until the system gets past this Xmas day crush overload. Good luck everyone!

    If you can, try a Wired connection to your or a friends router.

    Connect the console to the router via cable and turn on console, and do a Factory reset.

    You shouldn't need to use OSUs if you have a stable Network.

    This should not take 2 - 3 days. It should not take one day either.

    This may mean that the download failed because:

    • The Xbox Live service is temporarily unavailable.
    • There is a connectivity issue.
    • Your console can't reach the software update servicing host.

    Solution

    Solution 1: Check the Xbox Live service status

    If you see any alerts here, wait until the service is up and running and try again:

    Solution 2: Test your Xbox Live connection

    If you've previously been able to connect to Xbox Live using your current console and network setup, try testing your Xbox Live connection to confirm that you're connected. Here's how:

    1. Press the Guide button on your controller.

    1. Select settings, System Settings, and then Network Settings.
    2. Select the name of your Wireless Network, or select Wired Network for a wired connection.
    3. Select Test Xbox Live Connection.
    If you can't connect to Xbox Live, the Connection Test will show where in the connection process the error occurs. It will also tell you what type of error it is. Note this information, and then go to the Xbox
    Connection Error Solution     to resolve the problem.

    Solution 3: Check the Xbox Disconnect Solution

    To resolve this problem, try the Xbox Disconnect Solution. 360 Solution is shown.

    If you continue to experience the problem, contact Xbox Support.
