Xbox serise S connecting to Dell monitor

So first off it dose nothing at all I plug in the hdmi to the monitor and nothing changes it is connected a pc I don't know if that effects it but also I have tried to connect it from the app but it asks for the IP But there is no IP and the IP I put in it just says it's wrong and I don't have a flat screen tv only box tvs at this time.

What happens exactly when you connect the console to the HDMI port in this monitor?
If you try connecting the console to a different screen something similar happens or not at all?

And, what did you tried so far to fix this

Can you give us the exact model of the Dell Monitor?

Like for example "Dell S2319H"? There should be a label sticker on the backside of the Monitor. With the exact model description, we can try to find the user manual and describe how to change the input.

Or are you trying to connect your Xbox to your Dell Laptop computer, hoping it will display on the laptop's monitor, since you say you can't "select the input ion this computer"?

If you're trying to get the console video on your laptop computer, then this won't work, as the HDMI on the laptop is only a HDMI output.

you will need one of these:
www.xbox.com/.../Xbox360GVGSHDCable and you will need a Y cable that converts the 2 red and white male RCA plugs into a 1/8" headphone plug (like the one you plug into a MP3 player or CD player) that will plug into your LINE in jack on your PC sound card.
