Xbox Series X won’t upload Screenshots to OneDrive

I can’t upload screenshots to OneDrive but clips upload perfectly.

I have used 35GB/150GB so space is not a issue.

I have tried Hard reseting my Xbox and doing a factory reset. I have tried logging out and in of my Xbox and OneDrive. I have tried deleting my account and saves off Xbox and re signing in. I have tried restarting my router and Modem (which are not a problem with 1Gbs upload speed.

When I upload a game clip to OneDrive from Xbox it shows a progress bar for example “ 65% uploaded “. When I go to upload a Screenshot it does not show a progress bar, it says “Uploading” for a split second then the screen closes, almost as if it’s not even trying to upload the screenshot.

    Please help me, thank you.

I've tested it, both manually sharing to OneDrive and using the automatic upload option, and both are working fine for me.

    Here's what I would recommend: -

    1. Install the "Xbox Insider Bundle" apps from the store on the console. It doesn't matter if you're not an insider.

    2. Capture a screenshot in a game. If your issue is with the automatic upload option, then allow the upload to finish. If it's with the manual option, manually choose to upload the screenshot, then allow the upload to finish.

    3. Double-check to see if the screenshot appears in the Pictures\Xbox Screenshots folder in your main OneDrive folder.

    4. If the screenshot does not appear, hold down the Xbox button on your controller to bring up the shutdown screen. You'll see a new "Report a problem" option. Click on that, select the appropriate category, then fill out a bug report and submit it. That captures logs from the console that, along with your written report, will help the devs track the issue down.

Also, don't just assume that someone else will submit a report so you don't need to bother, because the more people that submit reports, the more that issue bubbles up to the top and is more likely to be noticed. There is no guarantee that submitting a bug report will lead to the issue getting fixed, but it's your best option.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with uploading screenshots to OneDrive from your Xbox Series X. It's frustrating when features like this aren't working as expected. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the problem:

    Check Xbox Live Services

    Update the Xbox System Software

Verify your OneDrive Account is in good standing without any issues

Check the format of the screenshots

Verify that your privacy settings on Xbox are not preventing the upload of screenshots

Ensure that your local storage on the Xbox Series X is not full

    Check your Network Connection

Make sure you have the OneDrive app installed on your Xbox Series X

If none of this works Contact Xbox Support to see if the issue can be resolved by talking to Support.

I can also state that I have this issue. I can upload the screenshots manually just fine. But the automatic upload that was just rolled out by Microsoft does not seem to work. I get an error code of 0x82323990. I have over 900 GB of space available on my OneDrive, so I am pretty sure space is not the issue. It seems to be something with the automatic upload itself. I say that because if I do a manual push, the screenshots show up fine.

Here, the screenshot is taken, it gives the fail message to OneDrive Upload, but then shows a successful upload to the Xbox Network. This is a rather huge issue, now that Xbox will delete clips and pictures after 90 days. Microsoft added the upload to OneDrive option because of these new settings, but the new settings don't mean much if the upload process doesn't work.

Same happened to me. I would upload all the time, then once that message about Xbox captures older than like 90 days get auto-deleted starting 2024 I decided to back up my captures (even though I'm sure I have them saved somewhere anyway), and I had to upload everything in 2 or 3 batches because it could only allow maybe 25 at a time. Got all that sorted, cleared my captures on the console. I tried to upload stuff maybe 2 weeks later and it just doesn't work. It will say "your captures will upload in the background" but it was literally days and I haven't seen anything. I can still upload to Xbox live, but anything for OneDrive just never works.

I have found a work around though. Just take literally any USB stick, stick it in the Xbox and save the clips/images to that, then plug into your PC. Pain in the **** compared to just hitting a button to upload to OneDrive but at least you can save your stuff now.

How would he know nothing has been uploaded if he hadn’t have checked OneDrive and he very clearly said he’d used 35gb of 150gb so why were you asking if he had enough space or if he had checked if the files were there if you’d have read a word he said?

Do you people read anything before commenting and pretending you’ve even tried to help? It’s no wonder there are so many help sites and forums online that are independent of Micro$oft and Crapple when their corporate mouthpieces half-**** everything because they’re too lazy to do anything other than mail out cut & paste boilerplate responses to serious concerns from paying customers.

I Don’t even know why I came here looking for help on this, I guess your ineffectual laziness is the straw that broke the camel’s back because I’ll never be back here nor will I ever buy another Micro$oft product again.
