Xbox Series X wont read some brand new discs

I purchased a Xbox Series X from Ebay about 3 months ago, and have sadly had some issues with it already. Primarily, when I insert certain Xbox one games the disc drive fails to read the game at all. In fact, there is no error message, no spin up sound, nothing. Nothing on the screen even reflects a disc was inserted! At the same time, other discs do indeed work as they should. All of my games are either brand new or in pristine condition, with no smudges, fingerprints or scratches whatsoever, so its not a matter of disc condition. Lastly, I have tried every single tip I have found on the forums, from changing the power mode ( I always have it on energy save mode, so that doesnt help me), clearing local saves, making sure console is updated, changing alternate mac address, power cycling, going offline to install, etc, etc. The same xbox one discs mentioned always fail to read without fail (Transformers Devastation and Sekiro for example), while other xbox one games are recognized and run fine (like DBZ Kakarot and Batman Arkham Knight). Series X games or cross-gen games seem to run and read fine every time. I honestly dont have the money for a potentially "out of warranty" repair and I feel like I was swindled by the ebay seller who is now long gone.

Is there anything else I can do or try short of sending it for repair? Could this be firmware related seeing as how the drive seems to work selectively rather than not at all? Why do some xbox one games work and others dont, when the discs are all literally the same type, and in brand new condition? Any help would be greatly, massively appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Please, try this first

Press Xbox button and go to System

Settings

Devices & connections

Blu-ray

Persistent storage

Clear persistent storage

After that, do this

Remove the disc from the console

Turn off the Xbox console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.

Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.

Plug the console power cable back in.

Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox

Inset the disc during the Xbox logo screen

I'm in the same boat .. My X box was working just fine and then all of a sudden after the new dash update it wont read games I bought a brand new game and haven''t even been able to play it because it wont read it .. it will read music CD's but not game
discs .. this is beyond frustrating .. it was WORKING JUUUST FINE before the update.. is there no way to just revert my X box to the previous update.. and use that ?

It actually does. I got the Series X this holiday at $349, and the same disc is working perfectly. I have determined that the Xbox One X disc drive is trying to read Cross Gen discs differently than Xbox One discs. The disc drive on the Series X doesn’t have this issue. You might need a new disc or you might need to send your Series X for maintenance.

I have the same problem brand new blackops 2 wont work. The game starts and then it just says disc read error.

I know they have a habit of changing names of products bit I think it'll be called something else the series x i tgink is jist a brand name for a new line. you need some way of distinguish between the products. So base models xbox one, one s diskless will
be one, the Xbox one x the scarlet/series x and I read there may be another console coming but it's weaker than the x
